Over the past 25 years, Miss Earth has celebrated not only beauty but also advocacy, environmental awareness, and global sisterhood. Since its inception in 2001, the pageant has crowned queens who embody the spirit of “beauty for a cause” — and among participating nations, a few have stood out as consistent powerhouses.
The Philippines remains the most successful country in Miss Earth history, with four crowns to date — won in 2008, 2014, 2015, and 2017. The country’s winning streak reflects its strong pageant culture and deep commitment to environmental causes.
The Philippines’ first-ever Miss Earth was Karla Henry (2008), who also became the first Asian to win the title. Six years later, Jamie Herrell (2014) brought the crown back to the country, followed by Angelia Ong (2015), who made history with a rare back-to-back victory for the Philippines. The country’s most recent titleholder, Karen Ibasco (2017), captured global attention for her scientific advocacy as a physicist.
Ecuador has earned two Miss Earth titles, marking its presence as a strong South American contender. The country’s first win came in 2011 with Olga Álava Vargas, who charmed judges with her grace and eloquence. Five years later, Katherine Espín (2016) brought home Ecuador’s second crown, solidifying its reputation as a rising pageant force.
Both Brazil and Venezuela have produced two Miss Earth winners each, cementing their influence in the pageant scene.
Brazil’s first win came in 2004 with Priscilla Meirelles, followed by Larissa Ramos in 2009, known for her dedication to biodiversity awareness. Meanwhile, Venezuela won its first Miss Earth title in 2005 through Alexandra Braun, and claimed its second in 2013 with Alyz Henrich, who was praised for her work in coastal cleanup campaigns.
