QR code tribute to honor FPJ, Susan Roces this Undas

Jefferson Fernando

In a heartfelt initiative blending nostalgia with technology, former Senator Grace Poe invited the public to celebrate the timeless legacy of her parents, Fernando Poe Jr. (FPJ) and Susan Roces, through a special QR-based tribute video available at their mausoleum in Manila North Cemetery this Undas season.

“SCAN THE QR! Balikan ang mga eksena nina FPJ at Susan Roces na ’di natin malilimutan!” Poe wrote in her Facebook post, encouraging visitors to relive unforgettable scenes from the King and Queen of Philippine Cinema’s most iconic films. (“Scan the QR! Relive the scenes of FPJ and Susan Roces that we will never forget!”)

Visitors who pass by the resting place of FPJ and Susan Roces can scan the QR code posters displayed at the entrance of their mausoleum to access a curated tribute video. The presentation features a collection of classic moments — from FPJ’s heroic roles that defined Filipino masculinity to Susan Roces’ graceful portrayals of strength, resilience, and love.

The digital tribute offers both fans and younger generations a chance to reconnect with Philippine cinema’s golden age — not just through flowers and candles, but through the moving power of film itself.

The initiative also demonstrates how modern technology can help preserve and share cultural memory. By pointing a smartphone camera at the QR code, visitors can watch the video anytime, ensuring that the Hari at Reyna ng Pelikulang Pilipino continue to inspire even beyond the silver screen.
