Go backs Agusan entrepreneurs

To help boost local livelihoods and support small business owners, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go’s Malasakit Team visited San Luis, Agusan del Sur on Wednesday in coordination with the local government and to assist micro-entrepreneurs in the area.

Through the Pangkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa (PPG) program — a DTI initiative that Senator Go has strongly supported — qualified beneficiaries received livelihood packages to help them recover from challenges and sustain their small businesses.

“The PPG program shows how we can extend care and compassion to our fellow Filipinos who have gone through tough times,” Senator Go said. “Your hard work doesn’t just help your own families — it also helps communities get back on their feet.”

Aside from the livelihood assistance, Go’s Malasakit Team also handed out shirts, fans, pens, basketballs and volleyballs to 17 families during the event held at Maxima Gymnasium. Among those present were San Luis Vice Mayor Ely Yecyec and Sangguniang Bayan Committee on Trade Chair Louie Lani Yecyec.

Go also encouraged everyone to stay dedicated to their small businesses and take pride in their hard work.

“Grow your business and share your success with your family,” he said. “It feels much better when you know that what you’ve achieved came from your own effort and determination.”

A consistent supporter of local development, Go is one of the authors and co-sponsors of Republic Act 11960, or the One Town, One Product (OTOP) Philippines Act. The law promotes Filipino-made products and helps small-scale producers expand their market reach.

“Through this law, we’re strengthening local businesses in every town and city,” Go explained. “We’re giving them the support they need to sustain operations and reach a wider market.”

Through programs like PPG and OTOP, Senator Go continues to champion Filipino entrepreneurs — helping them rebuild, grow and contribute to their communities’ progress one small business at a time.
