Gladys Reyes revealed why her son, Christof, a fellow Star Magic artist, couldn’t pursue the opportunity to join Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition 2.0. Speaking to the press after the Star Magic Spotlight Press Conference on 29 October, the veteran actress candidly explained the circumstances that prevented her son from entering Bahay ni Kuya.
According to Gladys, PBB head and Star Magic head Direk Lauren Dyogi personally extended an invitation for Christof to join the show. However, despite the exciting offer, Christof’s schedule and personal commitments made it impossible for him to participate.
“Meeting pa lang namin ni Direk Lauren, sinabi na niya ‘yan. Ininvite niya si Christof for PBB, kaya lang hindi talaga pwede,” Gladys recalled. (“Even during our first meeting with Direk Lauren, he already said that. He invited Christof for PBB, but it really wasn’t possible.”)
Christof, who is currently studying at the University of the Philippines Diliman, balances academics with his commitments as a Star Magic talent. Gladys explained that joining PBB would mean being completely cut off from the outside world—something that clashes with her son’s priorities.
“He’s studying in UP and at the same time, hindi siya makaka-church—may church service kami twice a week. Alam mo naman, bawal ang outside world. So wala, hindi talaga. Walang way para pumasok si Christof sa PBB,” she shared. (“He’s studying in UP and at the same time, he can’t go to church—we have church service twice a week. You know, the outside world isn’t allowed. So it’s not possible. There’s no way for Christof to enter PBB.”)
For the Reyes family, faith and education come before showbiz fame. The actress emphasized that while she supports her children’s artistic pursuits, she also ensures they remain grounded and committed to their values.
Despite the missed chance, Gladys remains open to the possibility of appearing inside Bahay ni Kuya—this time as a guest. She expressed interest in dropping by, especially since one of the Kapuso housemates, Caprice Cayetano, is her co-star in a GMA series.
“Why not? Gusto ko ‘yun! Sabi ko nga, ‘wag lang nila aapihin si Caprice doon, papasok talaga ako. I would love to visit Bahay ni Kuya—‘wag niya lang ako patulugin doon ah,” she said with a laugh. (“Why not? I want that! I said, just don’t bother Caprice there, and I’ll definitely enter. I would love to visit Bahay ni Kuya—just don’t let them put me to sleep there, ha.”)
The newly launched Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition 2.0 introduced 20 celebrity housemates—10 from the Kapamilya network and 10 from the Kapuso side. The crossover concept has already sparked buzz among fans, with many wondering how potential dynamics between rival-network stars will unfold inside the house.
While Christof Reyes won’t be among this season’s housemates, his mother’s pride remains evident. For Gladys, her son’s decision to stay true to his faith and studies is its own kind of victory—one that proves that even in showbiz, the strongest foundation begins at home.
