Operatives of the Marikina City Police Station arrested two male suspects, aged 39 and 41, involved in a robbery with intimidation along M.A. Roxas Extension, corner I. Senga Street, Barangay Kalumpang, Marikina City, on Thursday night.
According to the initial investigation, the 67-year-old female victim was waiting for a friend when the suspects, riding a motorcycle without a license plate, approached her. One of the suspects dismounted, brandished a firearm, and declared a holdup.
Fearing for her safety, the victim surrendered her cellphone, after which the suspects fled toward Old J.P. Rizal Street.
Patrol officers from Police Sub-Station 1, who were conducting a motorcycle patrol in the vicinity, promptly responded to the victim’s call for assistance.
Their swift action led to the immediate apprehension of one suspect and the recovery of a loaded .38-caliber revolver with five rounds of ammunition, along with a white half-face helmet.
A follow-up operation subsequently resulted in the arrest of the second suspect and the recovery of the stolen cellphone, a full-face helmet, and the motorcycle used in the crime, including its keyless ignition device and registration documents.
The two suspects are currently detained at the Marikina City Police Station custodial facility pending the filing of formal charges before the Marikina City Prosecutor’s Office.
Moreover, official records reveal that both individuals are repeat offenders previously involved in multiple criminal cases, such as violations of Republic Act No. 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002), robbery, rape, theft, and reckless imprudence resulting in damage to property.
