Meralco on full alert for Undas 2025; urges public to observe electrical safety

As millions of Filipinos prepare to visit cemeteries and travel to their hometowns for Undas 2025, the Manila Electric Company (Meralco) assured customers that its crews and personnel will be on full alert throughout the long weekend to address any electricity-related concerns.

“We are one with the nation in commemorating Undas,” said Meralco Vice President and Head of Corporate Communications Joe R. Zaldarriaga.

“While our Business Centers will be closed from 31 October to 2 November, our social media channels and hotlines will remain open, and our crews are on standby 24/7 to immediately respond to any electricity-related concern.”

Normal operations at all Meralco Business Centers will resume on 3 November.

In anticipation of the heavy flow of people traveling and visiting cemeteries, Meralco also reminded the public to observe proper electrical safety.

The company advised customers to turn off appliances when not in use, especially when leaving home for several days, and to avoid “octopus connections” or plugging multiple devices into a single outlet. It also urged the public to keep electrical wires, connectors, and equipment dry at all times, refrain from placing electrical cords under rugs or carpets as this could damage insulation, and keep flammable materials away from lighting fixtures and heat sources.

With many households expected to be unattended during the long weekend, Meralco emphasized that observing these safety reminders can help prevent electrical accidents and ensure a safe and peaceful observance of Undas.
