Miss Grand International Public Company Limited, led by its president Nawat Itsaragrisil, has released an official statement confirming that the 74th Miss Universe pageant will push through as scheduled this November in Thailand, despite the nation entering a mourning period following the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, The Queen Mother.
In the announcement published through the Royal Thai Government Gazette and shared by the Miss Grand International organization, Nawat clarified that the decision to proceed with the event—from 2 to 21 November —was made in accordance with existing commitments and extensive logistical preparations that have already been underway for months. Many of the contestants and members of the Miss Universe international production team have already arrived in Thailand.
However, the organizing committee emphasized that the format and activities of the pageant will be “adjusted as appropriate to the circumstances” and will strictly follow the mourning guidelines and recommendations set forth by the Thai government.
“The organizing committee expresses its deep respect and condolences on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, The Queen Mother,” the statement read. “We are committed to ensuring that all activities are conducted with the utmost sensitivity and adherence to national protocol during this solemn period.”
