A departing passenger bound for Bahrain was arrested at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 for a cyber libel case, the Philippine National Police–Aviation Security Group (PNP-AVSEGROUP) reported Sunday.
The Filipino woman was intercepted at around 10:58 a.m. on 18 October at the Central Security Screening Checkpoint of NAIA Terminal 3 before boarding Gulf Air flight GF155 for Bahrain.
The arrest stemmed from a warrant dated 27 May 2024 issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 47 in Ormoc City, Leyte, for alleged violation of Section 4(c)(4) of Republic Act 10175, or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012. Court records set her bail at P48,000.
The warrant was served by authorities from the PNP-AVSEGROUP and the Quezon City District Field Unit–Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (QCDFU-CIDG).
PNP-AVSEGROUP said the intercepted Filipina is an overseas Filipino worker and is now under the custody of QCDFU-CIDG pending further legal proceedings.
