55 minors in 21 Sept. protest get reprieve

Fifty-five minors arrested during the 21 September “Trillion-Peso Protest March” in Manila have been ordered to perform community service as part of their release conditions.

According to the directive, the minors will be accompanied by their parents while rendering service in various parts of the city under the supervision of the Manila Department of Social Welfare.

Mayor Isko Moreno said the program aims to instill responsibility among the youth and make them realize the consequences of their actions, particularly in damaging public property.

Authorities earlier reported that over 200 individuals, including 90 minors, were arrested during the riot along Recto Avenue and Mendiola.
