The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) arrested a woman in Angeles City, Pampanga, for allegedly making multiple bomb threats against schools and universities in the province.

NBI director Jaime B. Santiago said the arrest of Sheila Gonzales was made by the NBI-Central Luzon Regional Office (NBI-CELRO) in a hot pursuit operation. Gonzales is accused of violating Presidential Decree No. 1727, known as the Bomb Prank Law.

The local government of Pandan, Angeles City initially sought the assistance of the NBI after several bomb threats were communicated through social media and the internet. Investigators later determined the threats were hoaxes, and no actual bombings occurred.

NBI-CELRO agents launched a cyber-investigation that successfully traced and identified the creator and user of the fraudulent social media account linked to the threats as Gonzales, an Angeles City resident.
