The local government of Marikina on Friday began the construction of the super health center in Barangay Concepcion Dos.
Mayor Marjorie Ann “Maan” Teodoro directed Arch. Raymond Aquino of the City Architectural Office to mobilize personnel from the City Engineering Department to start phase two of the project.
Heavy construction equipment such as a backhoe and three dump trucks were deployed for a two-day clearing operation to remove grass and debris and fix the board-ups in the area. Proper construction of the health center is set to begin on Monday.
The super health center will be a four-story, multi-specialty building that will provide basic medical services and include an Autism Center for children with special needs.
Teodoro said the construction will now be managed directly by the city government instead of a third-party contractor.
“Ibig sabihin po, by admin na ang construction — equipment, materials, workers, provided na lahat ng city government,” she said.
During an uncoordinated inspection by the Department of Health (DOH) on 15 October, the site was covered with greenery as funding for the second phase had yet to be provided by the DOH.
We are true to our words and commitment. Pangako ‘yan ng Marikina at tinutupad natin. Sa Marikina, kapag sinabi, ginagawa,” she added.
In a letter sent to Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa dated 9 October 2025, the city government said it had decided to proceed with the project using locally sourced or LGU funds.
