Eastern Communications has launched its telecommunications and ICT services in Calbayog City, Samar, extending its network across Eastern Visayas to support regional digital growth.

In a statement on Friday, the company said the expansion is part of its Philippine Domestic Submarine Cable Network (PDSCN) project, the country’s largest submarine cable infrastructure initiative.

The network, composed of 80 percent undersea cables, aims to provide reliable and resilient connectivity to more areas nationwide.

“Our expansion to Calbayog aligns with Eastern Communications’ vision to strengthen our presence across the Visayas region,” Eastern Communications Chief Revenue and Innovation Officer Edsel Paglinawan said.

The company will offer advanced connectivity solutions, including Eastern Fiber 1 shared internet and Internet Direct Service dedicated connectivity, along with ICT tools such as cybersecurity, cloud, and data center services.

Eastern Communications said these services will support Calbayog’s key industries—agribusiness, trade, retail, and tourism—by enhancing efficiency, digital access, and overall competitiveness as the city positions itself as a major economic and tourism hub in Samar.

“By making Calbayog our entry point to reach more areas in Samar, we aim to empower local communities and businesses with resilient and reliable internet services," Paglinawan said.
