Water facility benefits elementary school

Manila Water Foundation (MWF), in partnership with the Manila Water Quezon City Service Area, the MWSS Corporate Office and the MWSS Regulatory Office inaugurated a Water Assets Installation and Rehabilitation project at Sto. Cristo Elementary School in Bago Bantay, Quezon City on 6 October.

The project includes the installation of booster pumps and tanks that will significantly improve water availability on campus and ensures the water pressure is sufficient in the school canteen, offices, washrooms or toilets in higher floors of school buildings. It is expected to benefit 1,447 learners, teachers and staff by supporting their health and well-being while on campus. 

The MWF also led a hygiene education session to remind learners on proper handwashing, proper toothbrushing and sanitation. And together with the MWSS Regulatory Office, MWF provided hygiene kits to enable the habits of proper handwashing and proper toothbrushing.

The event echoes this year’s Global Handwashing Day theme of “Be a Handwashing Hero” which reminds that clean hands begin with clean water. 

By rehabilitating water assets and providing hygiene essentials, MWF and its partners are enabling a culture of health and resilience in school communities.
