A 32-year-old woman from Barangay San Isidro, Montalban, Rizal, was arrested by Quezon City Police District (QCPD) operatives for obstructing the arrest of her live-in partner, who is wanted for robbing and shooting a businessman in Barangay Katipunan, Quezon City.
QCPD Acting District Director Col. Randy Glenn Silvio identified the suspect only as “Maria.” She faces charges of obstruction of justice, illegal possession of firearms, and illegal possession of explosives.
Police said that on 8 October, at around 4:30 p.m., two unidentified men entered the victim’s store, King Deo Queen Grace Store, in Barangay Katipunan, announced a holdup, and took the victim’s gold necklace and bracelet.
When the businessman resisted, one of the suspects shot him in the right thigh before fleeing on a motorcycle.
Investigators later identified the suspects as “Edison” and “Reginald.” This led QCPD Masambong Police Station 2, under Lt. Col. Rolando Baula, to conduct a follow-up operation in coordination with the Rodriguez Municipal Police Station.
During the 10 October operation, police arrived at the suspects’ residence in San Isidro, Montalban. Upon sensing police presence, the suspects ran inside their house.
“Maria” allegedly blocked the officers at the door, allowing the suspects to escape. She was arrested on the spot.
Recovered from the house were two improvised firearms, two magazines, a rifle grenade high explosive (HE), and an M49A1 trip flare.
Silvio said charges for violating Presidential Decree 1829 (Obstruction of Justice), Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act), and Republic Act 9516 (Illegal Possession of Explosives) will be filed against her before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
A hot pursuit operation is ongoing to capture the two at-large suspects.
