OCD XI reports minimal quake damage in Davao Oriental aerial assessment

The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) XI conducted an aerial assessment in the Municipality of Manay, Davao Oriental, on 10 October 2025.

The aerial inspection aimed to evaluate the extent of the damage caused by the magnitude 7.4 earthquake that struck the town.

Regional Director Ednar Dayanghirang led the assessment, joined by Davao Oriental Governor Nelson Dayanghirang, the Tactical Operations Group (TOG) 11 under the Eastern Mindanao Command, and personnel from the Philippine Army.

According to Dayanghirang, the team was immediately mobilized to gain a broader view of the affected areas and determine the initial impact on communities and critical facilities.

The assessment revealed minimal damage to schools, bridges, and other key infrastructure across the province.

"These findings indicate that most structures were able to withstand the strong ground shaking brought about by the earthquake. However, one road section was found to be impassable to all types of vehicles due to earthquake-induced landslides, temporarily affecting the mobility of residents," the DILG stated.

Despite visible damage appearing limited, OCD XI said that ground validation and detailed structural inspections remain necessary to ensure public safety.

OCD XI, in coordination with local government units and concerned national agencies, continues to monitor the situation and provide technical and operational assistance to ensure all affected communities are safe and that response and recovery efforts are effectively implemented.
