The SM Mall of Asia Arena will take center stage in Philippine sports history as it hosts the pool and finals phase of the 2025 FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship, the first time the tournament will be held in the country.
The announcement was made during the 30-day countdown event at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall, where fans, athletes, and guests gathered for a grand launch that unveiled the official tournament soundtrack, introduced its mascot, and gave attendees a rare glimpse of the championship trophy. The trophy will make a nationwide tour across select SM Supermalls in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
The MOA Arena, one of Asia’s largest indoor venues with a seating capacity of up to 20,000, meets international standards for major sporting events. It features advanced lighting systems, cutting-edge acoustics, spacious concourses, and premium seating, having previously hosted some of the world’s most prestigious competitions.
“This is not just a game, it is history in the making,” said Arnel C. Gonzales, vice president and general manager of the SM Mall of Asia Arena. “We are honored to host the FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship for the first time.”
The event follows the country’s successful staging of the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup, further cementing the Philippines’ reputation as a prime venue for global sports.
Opening day will feature a performance by K-pop group BOYNEXTDOOR before the highly anticipated first match between Alas Pilipinas and Tunisia.
SM Supermalls said its network of venues offers convenient locations, ample parking, diverse dining and retail options, staycation opportunities, and direct access to public transportation, ensuring a comfortable and exciting experience for fans.
