Vice President Sara Duterte on Monday said she would answer all allegations regarding the alleged misuse of confidential funds — the grounds for her impeachment — in the proper forum.
"Kung may kaso, sa tamang forum, mag-explain kami. Nagsabi kami noong nag-file sila ng articles of impeachment nila na ready ang defense team para sumagot sa accusations ng prosecutors ng House of Representatives," Duterte said in an ambush interview during the Kadayawan Festival in Davao City.
"Noong umakyat sa Supreme Court, yung kaso, lahat nang hiningi na Supreme Court ay binigay namin. Doon sa mga tamang forum at sa tamang venue, nagbibigay kami ng saktong sagot at nagbibigay kami ng explanation ng mga accusations," she added.
The Vice President, however, stressed that the accusations should not be a mere "moro-moro," or accusations made arbitrarily whenever someone wants to accuse others.
"Pero hindi pwede na moro-moro kung saan lang nagbibigay ng akusasyon at kung saan at kung kailan lang nila gusto mag-akusa ng tao," she said.
It can be recalled that three impeachment complaints were filed against Duterte in December 2024, all of which were connected with the alleged misuse of confidential funds.
It was the fourth impeachment complaint that was endorsed by over one-third of lawmakers from the House of Representatives and later transmitted to the Senate as the articles of impeachment.
However, the Supreme Court ruled unanimously to declare the articles of impeachment against Duterte unconstitutional and imposed a one-year ban.
Last week, the Senate voted to transfer to the archives the articles of impeachment against Vice President Sara Duterte, following the decision of the High Court to declare her impeachment unconstitutional.
