The search for the country’s next environmental queen concluded with a fresh face and a strong voice for the planet. Joy Barcoma of Bacoor was crowned Miss Philippines Earth 2025 during the coronation night held on Sunday, 10 August, at Okada Manila in Parañaque City.
Barcoma, whose grace and environmental advocacy impressed both the judges and the audience, was crowned by outgoing queen Irha Mel Alfeche of Matanao, Davao del Sur. Alfeche passed on the title after representing the country at Miss Earth 2024, where she secured a Top 12 finish behind winner Jessica Lane of Australia.
Outshining 35 other candidates from across the Philippines and overseas communities, Barcoma also shared the stage with her elemental court:
• Maria Flordeliz Mabao of Antipolo – Miss Philippines Air 2025
• Angel Rose Tambal of La Paz, Leyte – Miss Philippines Water 2025
• Jaymie Strickland of Tallahassee, Florida, USA – Miss Philippines Fire 2025
• Kriezl Jane Torres of Talakag, Bukidnon – Miss Philippines Eco-Tourism 2025
The remaining Top 10 contenders were named runners-up, concluding a night that celebrated beauty with a purpose.
As the new Miss Philippines Earth, Barcoma will represent the country at Miss Earth 2025. The exact date and venue for the international pageant have yet to be announced, but pageant supporters hope she will continue the Philippines’ strong legacy in the competition, which includes four Miss Earth crowns: Karla Henry (2008), Jamie Herrell (2014), Angelia Ong (2015), and Karen Ibasco (2017).
With her win, Barcoma steps into the role not only as a beauty queen but also as an environmental ambassador, ready to champion the call for a greener, more sustainable future.
