Roderick Paulate returns to big screen in 'Mudrasta'

Comedy legend Roderick Paulate proved he hasn’t lost his magic as he stole the spotlight at the Mudrasta trailer launch during the recent MediaCon. With his signature wit and timeless ‘patawa’ charm, Paulate had the audience roaring with laughter—reminding everyone exactly why he remains one of Philippine cinema’s most beloved comedic icons.

At the heart of the press event was the undeniable chemistry between Paulate and co-star Tonton Gutierrez, whose effortless banter became an instant highlight. “It just felt natural,” they both shared, crediting their years of comedic experience and the strength of the film’s script for making their dynamic work seamlessly on screen.

Mudrasta, Paulate’s much-awaited big-screen comeback, follows Victor “Beki” Labrador, a flamboyant ex-lover who suddenly reenters his former flame’s life—and home—after inheriting half of his estate. Hilarity and heartache ensue as Beki navigates life with the family he once left behind.

“Maganda ang Mudrasta. I’ve never been a ‘Mudrasta’—first time ko ‘to, and it was challenging right away,” Paulate said. “I got involved in every sequence. I was excited. I’m sure I made the right choice.”

Directed by Julius Ruslin Alfonso (Deadma Walking) and produced by the team behind Patay Na Si JesusMudrasta is already gaining momentum online, with its trailer racking up over 6.35 million views and hitting #11 on YouTube’s Top 30 Trailers in the Philippines.

The film, packed with laugh-out-loud scenes and pop culture callbacks—from MMK to Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin—is set to deliver a perfect mix of nostalgia, sass, and substance.
