Ar Sy looks back on struggles before MSC glory

After coaching Team Liquid PH to its first-ever Mid Season Cup title, head coach Rodel “Ar Sy” Cruz looked back on the challenges the team overcame to reach Mobile Legends glory.

Held at the Amazon Arena in Riyadh, the MSC 2025 victory was a milestone not just for the team, but for superstar jungler Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno, who finally completed his trophy collection by winning the one title that had eluded him.

Team Liquid PH captured the crown with a dominant 4-1 win over tournament favorite and defending champion SRG OG. However, while the squad looked nearly flawless on stage, Ar Sy revealed that the road to the top was anything but smooth.

“It was not an easy run. We started in MPL feeling each other out, so many ups and downs, and encountered problems, but we chose to fight those together,” Ar Sy said.

Though he didn’t go into detail about the internal issues, Ar Sy admitted that the same problems lingered even after the team’s MPL PH Season 15 championship win last June.

“We won both MPL and MSC, and some of those problems still resurface,” he shared.

“But after everything that happened, I am proud of myself and my players because we got past it and chose to win instead of losing to our negativity.”

By sticking together and facing adversity head-on, Team Liquid PH not only overcame their struggles but also made history.

They took home a record-breaking $1,000,000 grand prize, the largest ever won by a Philippine Mobile Legends team in a single tournament.
