Renowned legal luminary and law firm founder, Atty. Nilo T. Divina, has been elected to the Board of Trustees of Museo del Galeón, Inc., bringing his decades of distinguished legal experience and commitment to nation-building. His new role underscores his support for the museum’s mission to preserve and promote the Philippines’ maritime heritage, particularly the Manila-Acapulco Galleon Trade.

Atty. Divina, widely known for his selectivity in board elections, accepted the position recognizing the museum’s non-stock, non-profit status and its cultural and educational objectives. “The Museo del Galeón’s distinguished Board and its advocacy to deepen historical understanding through the shared maritime heritage of the Philippines resonate with my personal values and advocacies,” Atty. Divina shared.

In addition to his election to the Board, Atty. Divina has formalized a strategic partnership between his law firm, DivinaLaw, and the Museo del Galeón. As the official legal counsel of the museum, DivinaLaw will play a key role in supporting the museum’s operations and mission.

The museum’s Board of Trustees, chaired by Ambassador Carlos C. Salinas, also includes notable figures such as Doris Magsaysay-Ho (President), Dr. Jaime C. Laya (Treasurer), and other esteemed leaders, including Gloria M. Angara, Gerardo A. Borromeo, Dr. Lydia B. Echauz, Dr. Carlos Madrid Álvarez-Piñer, Enrique K. Razon Jr., Alfredo P. Roca, and Hans T. Sy.

Atty. Divina’s election comes at a crucial moment as the Museo del Galeón prepares for its grand opening in 2026. The museum’s efforts aim to provide deeper insights into the historical and cultural significance of the Manila-Acapulco Galleon Trade, an integral part of the Philippines’ maritime history. With Atty. Divina's expertise and leadership, the museum is poised to become a beacon of knowledge and heritage.
