The 47-man delegation to the World Games in Chengdu, China, kicking off this Wednesday has the full support of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC).
PSC acting executive director Atty. Guillermo Iroy told DAILY TRIBUNE that the agency is fully behind the country’s quest for medals in the 7 to 17 August multi-sports event.
“Everything is set for the World Games. When it comes to multi-sport games, the PSC funds the qualified athletes,” Iroy said.
“Chairman Pato (Patrick Gregorio) will also be in China for three days starting with the opening ceremonies.”
Agatha Wong of Wushu and Raph Trinidad of wakeboarding will be the Philippines’ flag bearers for this year’s World Games.
The Philippines is aiming to surpass its one gold medal tally from the 2022 edition in Birmingham, United States.
To make sure the athletes will be at their best, Iroy said a 24/7 help desk will be on standby for any last-minute requests to the PSC.
“We will continue to take care of the athletes. The 24/7 help desk will be there to help,” Iroy said.
