AFAB taps global tech at COMNEXT Japan

BATAAN — The Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) is looking to deepen its knowledge and expand its global network by participating in the COMNEXT Conference and Exhibit held in Tokyo, Japan on 1 August.

The three-day event features cutting-edge developments in artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), advanced optical communications, 5G and 6G technologies, network solutions and video transmission.

AFAB administrator and CEO Mohammed Hussein Pangandaman, along with Office of the Administrator group head Atty. Percival Peralta, represented the agency during the global tech gathering.

COMNEXT — formerly known as Communications and Broadcasting Week — is Japan’s premier trade show for next-generation communication technologies. The expo highlights innovations in areas such as private 5G networks, 6G development, IoT systems, 8K video transmission and optical communication solutions.

Through its participation, AFAB aims to connect with key industry leaders, explore emerging technologies, and position the Freeport Area of Bataan as a forward-looking investment destination, particularly for high-tech industries

AFAB is also actively pursuing its vision of transforming the Freeport into one of Asia’s leading blockchain hubs, in line with the Philippines’ push for innovation-driven economic zones.

Located in Mariveles, Bataan, the Freeport Area of Bataan spans 1,700 hectares and serves as a major trade and logistics hub for domestic, regional and global shipping.
