Vice Ganda throws shade at ‘toxic’ fans

Jefferson Fernando

Leave it to Vice Ganda to speak her truth—sharp, witty, and unafraid.

During a lighthearted segment on It’s Showtime, as the team welcomed former Pinoy Big Brother housemates Will Devaughn and Bianca Gonzalez back to the show, the Unkabogable Star delivered a candid remark that drew both laughter and applause—while throwing subtle shade at an all-too-familiar presence in the entertainment world: toxic fans.

“Huwag na natin silang masyadong chikahin, baka magalit pa ang mga fans,” Vice quipped. “Ang mga fans, kahit anong sabihin mo, may masasabi talaga.”

Though the comment was wrapped in humor, the message was clear. Without naming names, Vice shed light on the growing issue of extreme fan behavior—particularly those who police every move or word said about their idols, often with a knee-jerk readiness to criticize.

In recent years, fandoms have evolved into powerful communities of support and influence—but not without controversy. Social media has become both a platform for devotion and a battlefield for public opinion. And when it comes to PBB housemates—many of whom are young, new to fame, and navigating their careers under a microscope—the stakes can feel impossibly high.

Vice’s jab was timely, even necessary. Yet in classic Showtime fashion, the segment didn’t end in bitterness. Instead, Vice took a moment to recognize the brighter side.

“Maraming salamat dahil nandito pa rin kayo,” she said sincerely. “Ang bait ng Showtime, ang laki ng puso ng staff. ‘Yung mga PBB housemates, halos araw-araw nandito kahit ang dami nilang toxic na fans.”
