Fresh off his internationally lauded turn in the hit series Incognito, which earned him the Outstanding Asian Star honor at the 2025 Seoul International Drama Awards, Kapamilya actor Daniel Padilla is setting his sights back on the silver screen.
At a recent media event during his endorsement signing with logistics brand KPC in Taguig City, the 30-year-old star revealed that plans are already in motion for his much-awaited return to film.
“Very soon. May niluluto na kami (We’re already cooking up something) after Incognito,” Daniel shared. “Miss na miss ko na gumawa ng pelikula. Masaya sa series, pero my heart, nasa pelikula talaga (I miss doing movies very much. Doing a TV series is fun, but my heart really belongs to film).”
While Incognito marked a defining chapter in his action star era, Daniel admitted it was not easy to shift gears once the cameras stopped rolling — especially when it came to leaving behind the intensity and physicality of the genre.
“Nandito ang momentum natin ngayon (My momentum is really here now). I really do enjoy action. After Incognito, ang hirap bumalik (it’s hard to return),” he confessed, hinting that his next film might keep him in that adrenaline-filled space.
Still, the actor emphasized he is not closing doors to other genres, particularly the one that helped solidify his early stardom: romantic comedies.
“I’ve had my share of rom-coms, and I love that genre. Kung maganda ang script at sobra akong nagandahan, (If the script is good and I find it very good,) why not?” he said.
Though he kept tight-lipped about the specifics of his next film, Daniel teased that meetings are already lined up.
“Very soon malalaman kung ano ang project (You’ll know what the project is very soon). We’re figuring out kung ano talaga ang magandang gawin (what really is good) for me at this point.”
With his artistry maturing and his passion for storytelling burning brighter than ever, Padilla is poised for a powerful comeback to the big screen. Whether it is through pulse-pounding action or heartfelt romance, one thing is certain: the “King” is ready to return to his cinematic throne.
