Newcomer Joaquin Arce may come from a prominent showbiz lineage, but he’s determined to carve his own path in the entertainment industry — on his own terms.
The Star Magic rookie and son of producer-businessman Neil Arce recently shared his thoughts about possibly working with his stepmother, award-winning actress and humanitarian Angel Locsin. And while many would consider such a team-up a career jackpot, Joaquin candidly admitted he’s not ready — at least not yet.
In an interview Joaquin expressed his deep respect for Angel and acknowledged the high bar she’s set in Philippine cinema.
“What can I say about her working with me? Right now, I can’t say for sure whether we’ll have a project or not,” he said. “But maybe, if I act well enough, I’ll get on her level.”
Though he’s still at the beginning of his acting journey, Joaquin was deeply moved when Angel publicly showed her support for him — a rare gesture from the actress, who has mostly stayed away from social media in recent years. He also shared that she watched his Star Magic contract signing, a quiet but meaningful act that didn’t go unnoticed.
“Maybe someday, I’ll have the right to work with Ms. Angel,” he humbly added. “I need to prove myself first.”
Joaquin is part of Star Magic’s latest batch of rising talents. Despite being a showbiz neophyte, he enters the scene with a clear goal: to earn his place through talent and hard work, not just by association. And while he draws inspiration and guidance from his family — especially Angel — he is firmly focused on forging his own identity as an actor.
As one of the most promising names to watch from Star Magic’s fresh roster, Joaquin Arce is stepping into the spotlight with humility, quiet confidence, and a promise to rise on merit — not merely legacy.
