Rhenz Abando makes his return to the Korean Basketball League (KBL) after signing up with Anyang Jung Kwan Jang Red Boosters.

The club made the announcement yesterday as Abando is coming off a fruitful stint with Strong Group Athletics (SGA) after winning the 44th William Jones Cup in New Taipei City from 13 to 20 July.

The 27-year-old high-flyer will replace SGA teammate Javi Gomez de Liaño as the squad’s Asian import.

Abando started his overseas stint with Anyang in 2023 and won the KBL title in his rookie year with an average of 8.48 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.0 assists and even won the 2023 EASL Champions Week title.

Abando improved in his second season with the Red Boosters, averaging 9.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.0 block per game.

Yet, it was also the same season that Abando suffered a freak accident that left him with spinal fractures and a concussion after his collision with Chinanu Onuaku of the Goyang Sono Skygunners.

Abando only played 30 games for Anyang in his second season and finished in ninth place with an 18-36 win-loss record.

Reports say Abando remains focused on his KBL comeback.
