Applicants have flocked to the Cainta Municipal Hall on Monday, 28 July, to apply a job as part of the 400 people tasked to carry out a massive cleanup, removing garbages that are blocking the canals and drainages and other causes of flooding in the town.
This was the result of the "flood summit" organized by Cainta Mayor Keith Nieto, after more than a week of incessant raining that caused flooding in the town's major thoroughfares and subdivisions.
“Ang misyon natin ay linisin ang lahat ng baradong kanal at ma-discover ang mga condemned na linya para mapalitan at maiayos," Nieto said.
According to Nieto, the municipal government is serious about resolving the town's perennial flood problems that have displaced thousands of families.
“On going na ang walk-in ng mga aplikante na bubuo sa 400 katao na lalahok sa Imelda Avenue-wide drainage clean up. Dineretso ko na sa office para sa orientation at malaman nilang seryoso tayo sa programa,” the mayor said on his social media post.
Nieto also said this project will last three months and each will be paid P560 daily based on his conversation with Labor Secretary Benny Laguesma.
The mayor added that 12 villages and subdivisions will be covered by this project located along Imelda Avenue that have been severely affected by the flooding due to recent typhoons and southwest monsoon, or habagat.
These include Vista Verde, Village East, Greenpark, Filinvest, Karangalan, Cypress, Country Homes, Kasibulan, Dacon Homes, Gruar, CVS Homes, Villa Olympia, Serra Monte, Eastville and Katarungan Village.
“Ang HOA [homeowners' associations] ng kada subdivision ang tatayo at mag-rereport sa munisipyo ng kanilang mga natapos at magsa-submit sila ng scope of work at timeline ng completed streets kada linggo para monitored natin ang output,” the mayor said.
Nieto said the local government will purchase all the materials needed by the workers and there's a chance to be regularized if they work very well.
“Munisipyo ang bibili ng lahat ng gamit na kakailanganin ng mga gagawa at may tsansang manatili pagkatapos ng kontrata kung maging maganda ang output ng isa,” he said.
