Residents of Bacoor, Cavite allegedly expressed dismay over the relief goods distributed by the local government in response to heavy rains brought by Typhoon Emong and the southwest monsoon (habagat).
In the public Facebook group Bacoor Cavite City News and Updates, a netizen posted a photo of what they claimed was the relief pack distributed by the city — consisting of one kilogram of rice and two canned goods.
The post triggered a wave of negative comments, with several users criticizing the alleged insufficiency of the aid, especially for larger families.
“P150 budget per pamilya… Tatlong araw nyo kakainin yan,” one commenter wrote.
("P150 budget per family. That’s supposed to last three days.")
Another netizen shared a photo of what they claimed were two small printed notes included with the relief pack — one bearing a prayer and another with a message from Mayor Strike Revilla and Team Revilla: “Mag-ingat po tayong lahat, paalala mula sa City Government of Bacoor at Team Revilla.”
Some commenters reportedly took issue with the inclusion of political branding, with one remarking, “Mas mahal pa 'yung print sa papel kaysa sa worth ng binigay.”
("The print probably cost more than the relief itself.")
Other netizens allegedly criticized the long-standing governance of the Revilla family, tying it to Bacoor’s persistent flooding.
"Hindi na nagbago ang mga Revilla. Ilang dekada na kayong nakaupo, wala pa rin pagbabago... Hindi nyo madadala ang pera sa impyerno," one angry comment read.
("The Revillas haven’t changed. You’ve been in power for decades... You can’t take your money to hell.")
However, some users defended the local government, saying the aid — though limited — was still a form of help. Others urged fellow residents to be thankful for the assistance.
The viral post had garnered 2,400 laugh reactions, 56 sad, and six angry reactions. It also drew 650 likes, 156 hearts, 84 “wow” reactions, and 25 “care” reactions — reflecting mostly critical sentiment.
As of this writing, the Bacoor City Government has not released an official statement addressing the online backlash.
