CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — Three people were killed while another was seriously injured in two separate motorcycle accidents in Barangay Bulua, this city, and in Claveria, Misamis Oriental on Saturday night.

In the first incident, two men who had reportedly been drinking crashed their motorcycles while racing along the national highway near a traffic circle in Barangay Bulua.

Police identified the victims as Jomar Balicuatro and Anton Sumayong. Investigators said Balicuatro was the first to lose control of his motorcycle, slamming into a narra tree inside a garden in Zone 10. Sumayong, who was trailing close behind, crashed into a pile of hollow blocks.

Both riders were thrown into the grassy area of the garden. Balicuatro died on the spot due to severe head injuries, while Sumayong was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

Police said the two were on their way home after a drinking spree when the crash occurred.

In the second accident, a rider was killed and his backrider seriously injured after their motorcycle collided head-on with a pickup truck along the highway in Barangay Ani-e, Claveria town, Misamis Oriental.

The victims were reportedly on their way to Gingoog City to buy medicine when the incident happened. The rider died at the scene, while the backrider was brought to a hospital for treatment.

Authorities are conducting further investigations into both incidents.
