SGA rallies behind Brickman, Fenner

Strong Group Athletics (SGA) vouches for Filipino-American guards Jason Brickman and DJ Fenner as they set to apply for the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Annual Draft.

SGA head coach Charles Tiu said he is confident both Brickman and Fenner will get picked.

Fresh from defending the title in the 44th William Jones Cup in New Taipei City last week where it became the first Filipino club to win back-to-back titles, SGA believes the two players are legitimate prospects.

“You’re getting a pure point guard (with Jason). He’s the type who will shoot as a last option and everybody wants to play with him because he will look for you,” Tiu said.

“As for DJ, there are already PBA teams calling me about him and he’s excited. He was supposed to retire from basketball before (the Jones Cup) because his last stint in Lithuania wasn’t so good.”

Tiu said SGA patron Frank Lao is already helping Fenner with his papers for his PBA Draft application.

“There are papers from his parents’ side that he has to request for again. Boss Frank promised to help him with his passport. I just don’t know if he will be able to make it in time for the Draft because he has less than two months left.”

“But he is rushing it because he really wants to play for the PBA.”
