After a triumphant return to the spotlight with her first major solo concert at the Araneta Coliseum, OPM rock icon Kitchie Nadal finds herself at the center of renewed public affection—and a lingering question: Is she coming home for good?
In her recent guest appearance on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, the “Same Ground” hitmaker reflected on the unexpected revival of her career in the Philippines.
“Anything is possible,” Kitchie said with a smile, adding, “We’re open.”
Though she now resides in Madrid with her Spanish husband Carlos and their children, Kitchie expressed openness to building a dual base between Spain and the Philippines—an idea that once seemed improbable.
“When I moved to Spain [in 2017], parang hindi na rin ako nag-e-expect na my career would ever be the same again. I was just happy to be living there,” she admitted.
“And then, nagkaroon lang ng opportunities… I don’t know how it happened. Basta, nagkaroon lang ng demand to come back here and do concerts, and I said yes.”
Indeed, her Araneta concert was a full-circle moment—one she never imagined would happen, much less headline on her own.
“I didn’t even think about that… never in my wildest dream that it’ll happen,” she shared.
So why did she leave the country at the peak of her success?
Her answer was disarmingly simple:
“Love. Of course, love.”
In Madrid, Kitchie embraced a quieter, more grounded life far from the limelight.
“I’m really happy,” she shared. “Iba ang lifestyle doon. I was able to focus on my family, hands-on with the kids. So ang dami kong natutunan—house chores, lahat.”
While her music once echoed through massive arenas, her daily rhythm now includes school runs and homemaking. Yet, her recent return proves that even as time passes and priorities shift, true artistry never fades.
