P154K worth of weed seized

A police officer acting as a buyer paid P6,000 for marijuana, leading to the suspect’s arrest following a pre-arranged signal.

A drug suspect was arrested and over P154,000 worth of marijuana was confiscated in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Batasan Hills, Quezon City, police said Saturday.

Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Acting Director Col. Randy Glenn Silvio said the operation was conducted by Batasan Police Station (PS 6) in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.

Lt. Col. Romil Avenido, commander of Police Station 6, identified the suspect as “Emmanuel,” 24, a resident of Malate, Manila.

According to Avenido, the operation took place shortly after midnight on July 19 along Commonwealth Avenue near Ilang-Ilang Street.

Seized from the suspect were 100 grams of kush marijuana worth P150,000 and 20 grams of liquid marijuana valued at P4,400.

Authorities also recovered a black coin purse, a cellphone, two paper bags, two boxes, several vape cartridges and the marked money.

Police said the suspect had a previous case in February 2020 for illegal gambling under Presidential Decree 1602.

Charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act (Republic Act 9165) will be filed against the suspect before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
