CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — Three people, all under the influence of liquor, were killed in two separate accidents in Tagoloan town and El Salvador City in Misamis Oriental before dawn Saturday.

The first accident occurred shortly before dawn Saturday when two friends who were going home to Villanueva town overshot the new Tagoloan Bridge just a few meters away from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office in Tagoloan town.

Police identified the fatality as Joey Pansoy, the driver and his backrider, who was seriously injured as Mel Pompeo. Investigation showed that the driver of the motorcycle overshot the newly constructed bridge and rammed the railing, sending the victim down to the old bridge.

Rescue workers rushed to the scene, pulled the bodies of the victim from the bridge railings and brought them to the nearby hospital, where Pansoy, who sustained severe injury, was declared dead upon arrival. His companion was in serious condition.

In El Salvador City, two riders were also killed when their motorcycle crashed head-on with a boom trailer along the national highway in Barangay Molugan early Saturday morning.

The two victims, both residents of Barangay Hinihdaan, were also under the influence of liquor when the accident occurred.

One of the victims was a boxer who was scheduled to fight in Davao City on Sunday.
