AURORA, Isabela — Eight people died in a multi-vehicle collision early Friday morning on the National Highway in Barangay San Pedro San Pablo, Aurora, Isabela.
The accident happened at 2:45 a.m. of 19 July and was reported five minutes later.
Based on the police report, the vehicles involved are a six-wheeler truck and two vans. Investigation results revealed that the truck driven by October de Leon, a resident of Barangay San Antonio Minit, Echague, Isabela, was traversing southbound, when it encroached the opposite lane. The truck hit the left side of a van driven by Ron Ron Onalan, a resident of Barangay Danao Lacnog, Tabuk City, Kalinga.
The second van following the first van was then hit by the truck in a head-on collision.
The driver identified as Oseas Calderon, a resident of Barangay Bulo, Tabuk City, Kalinga and all of his seven passengers were all severely injured by the impact. They were rushed to different hospitals, but unfortunately, we’re all declared dead-on-arrival.
The three fatalities were identified as Niches Heizle O. Cagayongan, Claribel Maling and Jing Romboa, all of Tabuk City, Kalinga, and four unidentified individuals.
Truck driver De Leon was transported to the family clinic for medical attention.
The police is conducting a deeper investigation.
