Ilocos Norte Rep. Ferdinand Alexander “Sandro” Marcos is being considered for one of the top leadership positions in the House of Representatives as the 20th Congress draws near.
This was confirmed by La Union Rep. Paolo Ortega V, who told reporters Thursday that the President’s son is among the names circulating for the House Majority Leader post.
“The name of [former] Senior Deputy Majority Leader Marcos is being floated around. He is very much qualified,” Ortega said in a press conference.
While noting Marcos' qualifications, Ortega clarified that nothing is final yet, and that several lawmakers are equally suited for the role.
Ortega also said that while seniority is traditionally a factor in assigning leadership roles, other elements like attitude and collaboration carry significant weight.
“It is also about being responsible, building relationships... We need teamwork to shepherd the passage of bills. The wealth of experience is considered, but it is combined with other factors," he explained.
