SoKor Army honors Filipino Korean War veterans

The Philippine Army on Wednesday said a delegation from the Republic of Korea Army (ROKA) paid tribute to Filipino soldiers who fought in the Korean War, Army spokesperson Col. Louie Dema-ala said. 

“The ceremony marked the beginning of the ROKA delegation’s three-day engagement with the Philippine Army, aimed at further strengthening bilateral cooperation between the Philippines and South Korea in building a stronger Army-to-Army partnership,” he noted.

Dema-ala said the the long-standing partnership between two countries has strengthened ties in defense, education, labor, trade, culture, and tourism.

“The Philippine Army remains committed to promoting international cooperation among like-minded nations to foster a unified and effective approach in addressing emerging security challenges in the Indo-Pacific Region,” he added. 

The Philippines and South Korea have shared diplomatic relations for 75 years, since 3 March 1949. 

The Philippines sent the Philippine Expeditionary Force to Korea on 25 June 1950, to support South Korea against communist aggression.
