President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. inspects the Camp Aguinaldo Station of the Metro Manila Subway Project (MMSP) on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, in Quezon City. Marcos announced that once completed, the MMSP is expected to reduce travel time from Valenzuela to Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) from two hours to just 40 minutes. The event marks the launch of the first Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) for Contract Package 103, which will bore toward Ortigas Station. Despite notable progress, having already advanced 281.74 meters, the project continues to face challenges with subterranean right-of-way acquisition involving 69 private land parcels under Corinthian Properties. This critical tunnel segment, spanning approximately 850 meters, is expected to reach Corinthian Properties by the fourth quarter of 2025. President Marcos expressed optimism that the Valenzuela leg can be inaugurated by 2028, praising the "impressive" ongoing construction. He urged all agencies to fast-track the project, highlighting it as a significant engineering milestone that demonstrates the Philippines' capacity to undertake major public transport infrastructure in collaboration with international partners. Joining the President were DOTr Secretary Vivencio B. Dizon, PCO Secretary Dave Gomez, and DND Secretary Gilberto Teodoro. YUMMIE DINGDING / PPA POOL
