The Bureau of Immigration (BI) confirmed the arrest of a Chinese woman who had allegedly assumed a false Filipino identity, citing the case as reminiscent of that of former Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo.
In a statement on Monday, the BI identified the woman as 43-year-old Wang Xiujun, who had been using the alias Casia Palma Poliquit.
She was apprehended on Sunday at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 following her arrival from Kuala Lumpur on board an AirAsia flight.
Her arrest came after a tip-off from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI). A dactyloscopy, or fingerprint cross-examination, confirmed that Poliquit and Wang were the same person.
The BI said Wang had obtained a Philippine passport, investor’s visa, and a birth certificate through late registration. She is reportedly involved in businesses selling electric vehicles.
Wang is currently detained at the BI’s warden facility pending deportation proceedings.
