Every public kindergarten classroom in Manila will soon be equipped with a Smart TV and a laptop as part of an initiative under Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso’s administration.
This comes as the Manila City School Board last 9 July approved a resolution to reallocate P143,000,100.00 from the city’s 2025 Special Education Fund (SEF) Project Procurement Management Plan.
The realigned budget will cover the purchase of Smart TVs, laptops, tablet armchairs, and workbooks for kindergarten classrooms across the city.
All 397 public kindergarten classrooms will receive one laptop each, ensuring teachers can maximize the Smart TVs for digital-assisted learning.
“We are strengthening reading and basic education, in line with the national direction of equipping our classrooms as a mode for learning,” Domagoso said.
The mayor stressed that the funds were reallocated from what he deemed “unnecessary expenditures” like certain “repairs.”
“If we can spend P1.2 billion on repairs — and these repairs are not even life-threatening — then we could have built large schools instead,” Domagoso said.
