Junior World:Edoc settles for 3rd place

Zoji Tyro Edoc failed to recover from a bad start and settled for third place in the boys’ 7-8 division of the USwing Mojing Junior World Championships in San Diego, California on Thursday.

Edoc, the overnight leader, bogeyed three of the first five holes, birdied the fifth hole only to falter anew with bogeys on 7 and 8. He dropped two shots on 14 before capping his round with a birdie.

He finished at 2-over 221, eight shots behind Australian winner Hugo Smith who closed with a 69.

Mikell Zachary Guico carded an 80 to secure seventh spot at 229.

Brianna Macasaet, competing in the girls’ 9-10 bracket, posted the other Top 10 finish, tying for 10th at 216 after a 74.

In the girls’ 15-18 class, Stevie Umali, who started the day sharing third, dropped to a tie for 17th after a tough four-over-par 76.

The 15-18 division concludes on Friday.
