Kuya Bong backs Senate leadership

Senator Christopher “Bong” Go has reaffirmed his support for the current Senate leadership, stressing its alignment with his long-standing advocacy for pro-poor programs, particularly in health care and education.

In an ambush interview at the Senate, Go reiterated that his support is based on shared priorities rather than political partisanship, stressing his willingness to work with any leader who champions legislation benefiting the less fortunate.

“I am for continuity. I want us to work. We just want to be part of the majority,” Go said. “For me, I don’t choose who to work with. Whatever helps. Whoever the leader is who can help with the pro-poor programs we are pushing, that’s who I will support.”

“Regarding the leadership, my party mates and I agreed that we will vote as one, as a bloc. First, there were four of us, then five, then seven. Whoever can help push programs that assist the poor. That is my plea to the next Senate President. Continuity, so that the programs we have championed to help the poor are not delayed. And I am willing to work if we are in the majority,” he added.

When asked about rumors linking his support for the Senate leadership to the possible impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte, Go categorically denied any such connection, asserting that the issue was never discussed within his bloc.
