Barbie Forteza faces fears in first solo horror film "P77"

Just before turning 28, Kapuso Primetime Princess Barbie Forteza is taking on the genre she’s long wanted to explore—but has always feared—with P77 (short for Penthouse 77), her first solo horror film.

The psychological thriller, opening in cinemas nationwide on July 30, is a joint project between GMA Pictures and Warner Bros. Philippines, marking a major milestone for Barbie — personally and professionally.

“This must be a dream,” Barbie shared in an Instagram post following the film’s official announcement. The release date also happens to be a day before her birthday, adding a special layer to the project.

Directed by Derick Cabrido (Mallari), written by Enrico Santos, and produced by Clever Minds Inc., P77 promises a different kind of scare. It’s less about jump scares and more about psychological horror — the kind that lingers.

“It’s a different kind of horror because it attacks your mind,” Barbie said in an interview. “More than the jump scares, it’s really what’s going on inside your head.”

Also starring Euwenn Mikaell, Gina Pareño, and Jackie Lou Blanco, the film’s story is crafted by Anj Atienza and Xtian Julao.
