Ex-wife: Rody is ‘skin and bones’ but stable

Former president Rodrigo Duterte has grown frail in detention, appearing “skin and bones,” according to his ex-wife Elizabeth Zimmerman, who recently visited him at the International Criminal Court facility in The Hague, Netherlands.

In an interview posted on Facebook, Zimmerman said Duterte’s physical condition has changed noticeably, though he remains in stable health.

"I'm happy that I have seen him. And he's okay, but he's so thin. Skin and bones. Like in this picture,” Zimmerman said, pointing to a recent photo of the former president.

Despite his weakened appearance, Zimmerman noted that Duterte is no longer on any medication, something she considers a good sign.

“I think he's healthy, but as an old man, he walks weakly,” she said.

She described the former president’s daily routine as quiet and uneventful.

“He just wants to sleep. He just wants to watch TV. After watching TV, he said he sleeps again,” Zimmerman said.
