Newport World Resorts is on the hunt for fierce and fearless princesses to play the roles of young and teen Fiona in its upcoming swamp-tastic production, Shrek The Musical, at the Newport Performing Arts Theater starting 31 October..
Open call auditions will be held on 19 and 20 July, at the Academy for Leisure and Tourism (ALT), 2nd floor Horizon Center, 100 Andrews Avenue, Newport City, Pasay. Registration runs from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., with auditions from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The production is seeking performers aged 10 to 12 years old for the role of young Fiona and 14 to 16 years old for the role of teen Fiona. All auditionees must prepare to sing “I Know It’s Today,” a featured number in the production, and demonstrate a soprano vocal range from B3 to C#5.
Applicants must also submit their latest CV, a 3R-sized headshot and a full-body shot, and fill out a registration form. Rehearsals for Shrek The Musical begin on 18 August, from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m., extending to 11 p.m. during Tech Week, with performances scheduled from October to December 2025. Shrek The Musical is based on the DreamWorks Animation Motion Picture and the book by William Steig. It features book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire and music by Jeanine Tesori. The hit musical was originally produced on Broadway by DreamWorks Theatricals and Neal Street Productions.
