“There were so many other possible locations. But my heart knew where it wanted to go."

Sylvia Sanchez is taking her next big film project to a place that means everything to her — Nasipit, Agusan del Norte.

The award-winning actress and producer announced that her upcoming film will be shot entirely in her hometown in Mindanao, marking a significant personal and professional milestone.

“I’ll be producing a film — and this time, we’re bringing the entire production home,” Sanchez shared on social media.

“Where is this Nasipit?”

It’s a question Sanchez says she’s often asked. With a proud smile, she responds — not just with words, but now with action. The upcoming film will not only showcase the rich scenery and quiet beauty of Nasipit but also spotlight the culture, talent, and heart of the people she fondly calls “my favorite Nasipitnons.”

“This town shaped me,” she said. “I grew up in its quiet streets, surrounded by the warmth of its people. It’s where I first learned the power of storytelling — even before I had the words.”

The production will include a mix of local and Manila-based creatives, with Sanchez promising a world-class output that highlights Filipino identity and craftsmanship. While full details about the film are still under wraps, the project aims to meet international standards while keeping its roots firmly grounded in Mindanao.

“This is my way of giving back,” Sanchez said. “Of saying thank you. Of introducing the world to a place that gave me so much.”

As preparations begin in Nasipit, anticipation is building — not just among locals, but also within the wider film industry. For Sanchez, this is more than just a homecoming — it’s a story that’s come full circle.

See you soon, Nasipit. Sylvia's coming home.
