The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) said Friday it will comply with any laws enacted by Congress regarding online gambling, amid renewed legislative efforts to tighten regulations on the industry.
In a brief statement, PAGCOR acknowledged that it is the prerogative of lawmakers to propose bills "which they think will be beneficial to the public." The agency added it is “duty-bound to follow any and all relevant regulations once they are passed by Congress and signed into law by the President.”
While legislation is still under consideration, PAGCOR emphasized its ongoing campaign against illegal online gambling operations.
“Rest assured that PAGCOR remains fully committed to intensifying its efforts in the ongoing battle against the proliferation of illegal online gaming activities,” the agency said, noting its coordination with other government bodies and support from industry stakeholders.
