Glaiza de Castro and Bayang Barrios reimagine 'Encantadia' anthem

For fans of Encantadia, its iconic theme song is more than just a tune — it’s a cultural marker, remembered for its sweeping melody, powerful vocals, and the world of elemental queens it introduced to a generation. Now, nearly two decades after “Tadhana” first aired on Philippine television, two artists come together to breathe new life into the beloved anthem.

Actress and singer Glaiza de Castro, who portrayed Pirena in the 2016 reboot and returns in the upcoming spin-off Encantadia Chronicles: Sang’gre, has teamed up with Bayang Barrios — the original voice behind “Tadhana.” The collaboration is nothing short of magical.

“The iconic voice behind Encantadia’s theme song — the chant that shaped our childhood — Ms. Bayang Barrios, everyone,” Glaiza wrote in a social media post. “Truly honored and grateful for the chance to sing this legendary theme song alongside her. Avisala Eshma!”

The collaboration began during the filming of Sang’gre in 2024. Inspired by an emotional scene, Glaiza wrote a verse that later evolved into a complete musical piece. That idea culminated in a new performance of “Tadhana,” recorded live with Barrios at Minsan Studios.

“This is a tribute to the past, to a piece of our youth,” Glaiza said. “We can’t deny the impact this melody—and her voice—had on all of us.”

Directed by Krisanto Blanco and produced by PROD AXIA, the performance captures both raw energy and a deep respect for the legacy of the show. With soaring vocals, immersive visuals, and a modern arrangement, the piece aims to connect longtime fans and first-time viewers alike.

The production brought together a committed creative team, including project manager Reine Tan, sound engineer Kyle Cayton, and colorist Seij Blanco. Their combined efforts reflect the kind of attention to detail the Encantadia name commands.

The full performance is set to drop tonight, offering a blend of nostalgia and reinvention. Whether you're reliving the magic of Lireo or encountering the chant for the first time, the anthem stands as a reminder of the saga’s enduring appeal.

“This is for the musicians who bring scenes to life,” Glaiza shared. “For those who were part of and loved Encantadia. And for those just starting their journey.”

Avisala, indeed.
