Leads Agri at 28th: Striving for Agricultural Innovation

DT

At the forefront of its goals and achievements, Leads Agricultural Products Corporation (Leads Agri) now finds itself constantly seeking opportunities where its growth as a company is marked by improvements in its internal processes and external relationships with its stakeholders. One of Leads Agri’s key symbol of progress is its ability to serve the Philippine farming community and amplify its needs for better farming opportunities. As the Company celebrates almost three decades of serving the agricultural industry, it has conceptualized and initiated programs that partner with various local and national government agencies.

The distribution of Jackpot 102 Hybrid Rice Seeds (Jackpot 102) has become the turning point for Leads Agri’s promotion of farm inputs and technologies. Traditional rice farming practices involved the use of inbred seeds. The introduction of hybrid rice seeds such as Jackpot 102 enables farmers to achieve higher yield. Various hybrid rice seeds are also known for their good milling recovery and great tasting white rice.

To complement the distribution of Jackpot 102, Leads Agri developed the Jackpot All Stars Program (JAS), which is geared towards the hybrid rice seeds recipients of the different regions nationwide. This program was born out of the desire to formally engage farmers and municipal agriculturists in the proper technologies and farming techniques. Through the JAS program, farmers are assisted by dedicated technicians and agriculturists throughout the whole cropping season. The program has incentivized the top performing farmers in terms of yield and grain quality with various opportunities to acknowledge and award farmers for their efforts.

The real potential of this kind of program can ignite discussions among its key

stakeholders especially when presented with various opportunities to learn and grow.

The tagline ‘Masaganang Ani, Masaganang Buhay’ embodies Leads Agri’s vision for a more sustainable future for farmers

Even if it presents itself as a challenge, the JAS program also hopes to become an avenue where farmers can influence their neighbors and communities to aspire for better yields. Given the talks on food security and the increasing costs of rice production, farmers must have opportunities to innovate their practices so that they can sustain their livelihoods.

A lot of the JAS program participants are influential figures in their own Barangay or municipalities. Some participants have even dedicated their whole lives to agriculture – whether it be through laborious or technical efforts. This is why the JAS program becomes an ode to their hard work and spirit.

Forging the path to sustainability in the agricultural industry requires the effort of all industry stakeholders. Leads Agri confidently supports this effort by taking on an active role in knowing the farmers, offering products and services that will further help them achieve better yields, and uplifting parts of their communities that are unable initiate their own progressive steps. It is with these efforts that the Company continuously hopes to transform the industry and develop more as a company for generations to come.
