President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has appointed Ariel Nepomuceno as the new commissioner of the Bureau of Customs (BoC), replacing Bienvenido Rubio, whose courtesy resignation was reportedly accepted. Nepomuceno took his oath of office before Marcos on Monday at Malacañang Palace.
Before his appointment to the BoC, Nepomuceno served as executive director of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) and administrator of the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) with the rank of undersecretary. He graduated magna cum laude from the University of the Philippines with a Bachelor of Arts in History. Nepomuceno also holds an Executive Masters in Business Administration from the Asian Institute of Management.
Nepomuceno previously worked at the BoC under former commissioners Nicanor Faeldon and Isidro Lapeña. He left government service in 2018 and returned in 2022 to join the OCD.
